How to copy path to clipboard?

Hi!

This is probably a silly question, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to copy the path of a file to the clipboard. Copying it into the command line, selecting it and then pressing Ctrl + Shift + C doesn't work either, which is usually how to do in in terminals.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It's actually very simple.
Read the user documentation or...
Select something in the MC window by holding down the SHIFT key and clicking and holding the left mouse button. Once you've made your selection, you can hold down SHIFT and click the right mouse button to select the option to copy (to the clipboard).
That's it.

I did actually read the man page, but I can't get it to work.

Selecting text, with shift + left click as you mentioned, works, but right clicking afterwards, both with and without shift, simply moves the selection. There is no option to copy.

I've uploaded your terminal output as well.
The “Shift + right mouse button” combination doesn't work for me either.

But the following works without MC, i.e., in an empty terminal:

1. Select text using the left mouse button (with or without modifier keys)
2. Shift-Ctrl-C (copies to the system clipboard)
3. And then, for example: Shift-Ctrl-V (pastes into the command line)

Selection with MC: Hold down Shift and click the left mouse button
then follow steps 2 or 3 above.

In my terminal, right-clicking brings up a context menu (with MC, use Shift + right mouse button). That’s not the case with your terminal.
The page https://alacritty.org/config-alacritty.html promises a wide range of configuration options.
Perhaps you can configure something under the “Mouse” section.

The mouse section allowed to me copy selected text with shift + right click, but that would first require me to

• get the full path of the file in the mc shell line with alt + a and then alt + enter
• select the entire thing
• shift + right click to copy the path

I ended up writing a command for the user menu instead:

c       Copy current file path to clipboard
        wl-copy "%d/%f"

I would have expected mc to be able to handle this internally, though I suppose it makes sense given how cumbersome and fragmented clipboard management can be on Linux.
