If your on descktop, you probobly don't need to worry about your cache being cleared. just store the data:url with the local storage extension.

local storage has a 5mb limit i think.

THOUGH, browsers DO have an api to get a special folder for local storage (in appdata, not the app directory), and they also have indexeddb. both work for large-scale data storage, and both can store binary files.
