sxslt selection difficulties

A few things strike me about selecting with sxslt:

• Why on earth is sxslt using these stringly typed xpath style identifiers instead of the delicious sxpath expressions?
• I can't figure out how to deal with namespaces with sxslt? I don't see any way to pass them in...

Sorry I never responded to this thread... I agree, there are some strange implementation choices here. Oleg is really the one to ask here, I believe, unless this was the work of Dmitry Lizorkin or one of the other authors, sigh. I think, broadly, that sxslt was not implemented at the highest possible level of forethought and design.
