Creation of Win Server 2019 DataScience fails.

Steps to reproduce

1. In base workspace
2. Create 2019 Data Science VM via the TRE GUI

Azure TRE release version (e.g. v0.28.0):

Error message as follows; - Deployment fails
Virtual Machine Name: "windowsvm7f03"): performing CreateOrUpdate: unexpected status 400 (400 Bad Request) with error: BadRequest: The selected VM size 'Standard_D2s_v6' cannot boot Hypervisor Generation '1'. If this was a Create operation please check that the Hypervisor Generation of the Image matches the Hypervisor Generation of the selected VM Size. If this was an Update operation please select a Hypervisor Generation '1' VM Size. For more information, see https://aka.ms/azuregen2vm

This image has been depreciated, no longer exists in main:

Will close the issue, come back if still hitting problems.

Most users have custom VM images they wire into the solution. Following their corporate build procedures. See https://microsoft.github.io/AzureTRE/latest/tre-templates/user-resources/custom/ .

This repo has the images outlined in the link above with bootstrap scripts to install researcher tooling. Although be aware they can be liable to transient installation issues.

One question: with the default TRE images, how does a researcher access data that has been approved for import by the Airlock Manager, or is this not supported without custom images?

Good question. Az cli and storage explorer were on the data science VM. I typically test/demo using Linux.

We should add them to the windows vm bootstrap script. They packages should be available via nexus.

Looks like this might have been an oversight when the ds vms were removed.

We will need to get this fixed.

Looks like @JC-wk added 2022 in #4891 and it was removed in #4970 . It should have been left we think.

Need to decide a way forward.

Also, If you don't mind me asking, why the 2019 DS VM image is still in the available images if its unsupported?
If it's broken why is it still there?

Where are you looking? It was only recently removed from main.

You would need to deploy the latest template as it has been removed recently, however 2022 should probably be added back in

You can always use your own custom vm templates and use the dsvm images. The challenges we have are if the dsvm/packages on them are not being maintained we don't want to encourage their use.
