Disabling new Pybricks Slots for when using Pybricks Menu #2872

Thank you. We could perhaps add some customization checkboxes during firmware installation, on the tab where you can currently only choose the hub name. If we do that, here are a few (unrelated) options we could then also add:
I don't know when we'll get around to doing this though, since it requires quite a lot of changes in a few different places. |

I just found another request for the same thing: https://github.com/orgs/pybricks/discussions/2731 The slots are a real problem for our kids using PyBricks for FLL. The slots UI has been very confusing for them in combination with hub_menu. It seems like this would be a problem for all FLL teams. Unless they can carefully get down to exactly 5 programs, they'll always need an extra menu in addition to the slots menu. Every extra interaction takes time during competition and increases the chance of frustrating and costly mistakes. |
Uh oh!

Is there a way to disable the new Pybricks Slot support when using pybricks menu based programs?
while I'm a bit supporter of the slot approach for Pybricks Block Coding it is causing operational issues with our students. We use Pybricks menu functionality to control ourt 6+ programs we have running on the robot. The slots are sometimes along the right side of the display or along the bottom. does not appear to be consistent. our hub sits sideways. But really for python programming it would be really nice if we can just disable slots alll together because it causes substantial confusion for kids and sometimes the coaches.
thanks
