How to switch workspaces with just one action?

Currently, to switch workspaces I always have to complete the action:
When switching with a shortcut, I have to release the Super key
When switching with touchpad gestures, I have to click to choose the right workspace

I wonder if there is a quicker way to do that, when only one action is needed, whether with keyboard or touchpad.
It would be great to have separate triggers for the two modes, like different shortcuts or 3-4 finger gestures.

I also find it a bit bothersome to release the Super key when switching workspaces.

It would be nice to have a way of switching that behavior off, so that moving to workspaces would be instant, requiring only a keypress, rather than a keypress plus a release.

So it turns out you can do this already. You just have to arrange Gnome's keybindings and PaperWM's keybindings so there are no conflicts.

In Gnome Settings, under Keyboard:Customize Shortcuts, set the bindings for "Move one workspace to the left" and "Move one workspace to the right" as you like, again making sure these don't conflict with the PaperWM keybindings.

Now you can switch workspaces in one action, without having to release the Super key.
