Feature idea: Quick ways to toggle the on-screen keyboard (three-finger tap or shortcut button)
#2120
Add quick ways to show or hide the on-screen keyboard while in game, without opening a menu first — for example a three-finger tap gesture or a dedicated shortcut button.
Motivation
Many games need occasional keyboard input: naming a character, entering a save name, chat, console commands, or a one-off key that isn't mapped on the virtual controller. Today this means opening a menu first, which interrupts play and is awkward on a phone or foldable.
A one-step shortcut would make text input almost instant. Remote-desktop apps commonly use a three-finger tap for this, and a small shortcut button works well for users who prefer not to use gestures.
Proposed options
1. Gesture
Three-finger tap on the game area → toggle the keyboard (show if hidden, hide if shown)
The gesture's touches are consumed and NOT forwarded to the game as clicks or touch input
2. Shortcut button
A "Toggle keyboard" button type in the control editor, so it can be placed anywhere in a virtual controller layout
Optionally a small floating button that can be shown even when the virtual controller is hidden
Optionally a physical controller combo (e.g. Select + R3) for users playing with a gamepad
Users could enable one or more of these depending on how they play.
Settings
Enable / disable each method individually
Choose the action: toggle keyboard, open Quick Menu, or none
Choose the gesture variant: three-finger tap, or three-finger swipe up/down to show/hide
Edge cases to consider
Short time window so three fingers landing at slightly different times still count as one tap
Ignore the gesture while a finger is held on a virtual control, so fast multi-touch play isn't misread as a tap
Avoid conflicts with system gestures (some devices use three-finger gestures for screenshots); the per-method on/off setting covers this
