So I use Voicemeeter to manage my audio sources and in my other computer steelseries, and i cannot route my audio in steelseries sonar. I cannot change the audio output to my different channels even with the sonar built in and the windows built-in.
Your idea
I would Love to adjust where the audio output of spotatui into different channels available to me natively, for instance with a virtual audio cables or even physical hardware.
The reporter routes audio with Voicemeeter on one Windows PC and SteelSeries Sonar on another. They cannot send spotatui's output to a particular channel, either through Sonar or through the Windows output settings. They want to pick spotatui's output device inside the app, such as a virtual audio cable or a physical device. Today the only override is the SPOTATUI_STREAMING_AUDIO_DEVICE environment variable for native Spotify streaming. The other sources always use the system default output, and there is no in-app setting.
Key points
The reporter uses Voicemeeter on one computer and SteelSeries Sonar on another to manage audio sources.
They cannot route spotatui's audio in SteelSeries Sonar.
Changing the output channel fails both with Sonar and with the Windows built-in settings.
They want to choose spotatui's output device inside the app, for example a virtual audio cable or physical hardware.
Where to look
src/infra/player/streaming.rs: Builds the librespot audio backend. It reads SPOTATUI_STREAMING_AUDIO_BACKEND and SPOTATUI_STREAMING_AUDIO_DEVICE from the environment and passes the device to the sink.
src/infra/audio/player.rs: open_sink always opens cpal's default output device for the decoded sources (local, Subsonic, radio, YouTube, Qobuz), with no option to choose another.
docs/native-streaming.md: Documents the SPOTATUI_STREAMING_AUDIO_DEVICE override and says the other sources use the system default output.
