Software Engineer · Java & Spring · Sofia, Bulgaria 🇧🇬
I build backend systems in Java and Spring, and I've been doing it professionally for two years — at Latona Development since July 2024.
Most of what I care about right now sits behind the API: how services talk to each other without losing messages, what happens on the retry, and how to keep a system honest when something downstream goes down. When a project needs a frontend or a service in Python, I write those too.
Event-driven architecture. Microservices communicating over Apache Kafka, the transactional outbox pattern for reliable publishing, idempotent consumers, and retry handling for the times a downstream service isn't there.
I learned this properly rather than incidentally — through private mentorship with Atanas Atanasov, a lecturer at SoftUni, running from 2025 to spring 2026 alongside a full-time job. Distributed systems are unforgiving about the details, and the details are the part you don't get from documentation.
AI in practice. I orchestrate coding agents day to day, and I build my own MCP-integrated tooling on top of them — custom agent skills wired into real data sources, not prompts in a chat window.
Going further into system design and distributed architecture — the decisions that come before the code, and the ones you can't undo afterwards.

Open to talking about backend architecture, Java, and anything event-driven.
