Each book type gets a layout (Admin > Types, below the Folder field), chosen from three presets with a real example path from the library next to each:

  • Series first (today's layout, the default): Myron Bolitar/Deal Breaker v01.epub
  • Author, then series: Harlan Coben/Myron Bolitar/Deal Breaker v01.epub
  • Author only: Harlan Coben/Deal Breaker v01.epub

An "Advanced" checkbox unlocks a small template with the fields {author}, {series}, {title}, {index}, {year}, {ext}, a fallback {series|author}, optional parts in [...], and / for folders. Invalid templates are refused with a readable message, and a preview renders a few real books while typing.

The default preset produces the same paths as before, so an upgrade changes nothing on disk. Saving a layout never moves files: changed books show up as misplaced in Library Health, and Dry Run All / Reorganize All move them. Every placement path (import, upload, bindery accept, auto-import, Scribe ingest) uses the type's layout for new books.
