docs(claude): add public text guidelines for agents - #525
Conversation
Everything pushed or posted from this open-source repo is public. Agents should describe each change on its own terms and keep out internal context, outside references, business plans, personal details and credentials, and process notes. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

| - **Internal context** — the private discussion behind a change, how a decision was reached, reactions to the work, and opinions about the codebase or the people on it. | ||
| - **References and research** — other products, sites, studios, or people used as inspiration, comparison, or benchmarks, and anything measured or copied from them. |

Exempt required source attribution
When a contributor adds an SVG under content/docs/contributing/guidelines.mdx:19, the repository explicitly requires a documentation credit, but this blanket rule prohibits naming the source site or anything copied from it. Agents therefore cannot satisfy both instructions and may omit required attribution; explicitly exempt credits and citations from this rule.

Fixed in 477ea19. Attributions and licence credits required by the contributing guidelines are now an explicit exception.

| - **Business and plans** — unreleased features, roadmap timing, pricing, commercial direction, clients, partners, and internal tools or repos. | ||
| - **People and access** — personal names (except authors and public credits), emails, accounts, credentials, tokens, private URLs, and local file paths. | ||
| - **Process** — prompts, AI tools or skills used, and agent workflow. The co-author trailer is the only exception. |

Remove the prohibited AI disclosure from this commit
The target commit's public message ends with a “Generated with Claude Code” footer, which discloses the AI tool and is not a co-author trailer. That directly violates the sole exception established here in the same commit, so the commit metadata should use the permitted trailer or omit the process disclosure.

The commit message only carries the co-author trailer; the generated-with line is in the PR description. 477ea19 makes that line an explicit exception alongside the trailer.

only a public or GitHub no-reply email may appear in a Co-authored-by trailer;

Adds a "Public text stays public-safe" section to
CLAUDE.md.This repo is open source, so everything that leaves a machine is public: PR titles and descriptions, PR, review, and issue comments, commit messages, branch names, code comments, docs, changelogs, demo copy, and Storybook stories. The section asks agents working in the repo to describe each change on its own terms, and lists what to keep out of public text:
It ends with a check to run before any push, PR, or comment.
Docs-only change for contributors; no changelog entry needed.
