SailingVR-Builds

SailingVR turns real regatta tracking data into an immersive virtual-reality experience. Instead of reviewing a race as a flat 2D map or a table of numbers, you step back into the boat and relive the race from the water, seeing the situation exactly as it unfolded. Built for athletes and coaches, SailingVR makes tracked data usable for training, revealing situational decision-making and performance in a way conventional review can't.

SailingVR Main

Build Repository

This repository only includes the releases for the SailingVR application. The source code is not available because the Unity project uses paid assets. If you want to contribute to the development process please contact marcus.hudritsch@bfh.ch.

Install SailingVR on a Meta Quest

Because SailingVR is a young project and to stay independent of Meta, we use SideQuest to install the VR application on the VR headset:

  1. Download the latest version from the release section.
  2. Download and install the SideQuest Desktop App for your operating system. Do NOT use the Web Installer.
  3. Set the Meta Quest headset into developer mode: This is necessary to sideload software with a USB cable from your PC. You need to do this only once.
    1. Open Meta Horizon on your mobile phone: To set up your headset you need to install the Meta Horizon app from your phone's app store.
    2. Turn on your headset and make sure your headset is on the same Wi-Fi as your mobile phone.
    3. Connect with the mobile app to the headset. You should see your headset listed in the mobile app, showing the battery states of the headset and controllers.
    4. Choose Headset Settings and activate the Developer Mode.
  4. Connect the Quest headset with the USB3 cable to your computer and accept the computer connection inside the VR headset.
  5. Install the APK with SideQuest:
    1. Start the SideQuest Desktop app. If your headset is connected, you will see a green light at the top-left.
    2. Press the Install APK file from folder on computer button and choose the APK file to install. Wait until the installation is finished. SideQuest Toolbar Screenshot
