Overhaul: curtain plotting

with the overhaul we need to update the curtain plotting functionality. The existing implementation already supports Plotly and PyVista backends, but it should be reviewed as part of the new architecture!

we need to:

• ensure compatibility with the new elements structure
• review and simplify the curtain plotting API
• add/update examples and documentation
