Request: Re-add Optimizely to docs (staging) with new minimal project #9241

Open

Description

Summary

The Optimizely snippet was removed from the docs site in Feb 2026 after severe page slowness (30-40+ second loads, delayed clicks). The root cause is still unconfirmed.

Trace-20260220T142255.json.gz

I created a new, minimal Optimizely project (no legacy experiments, audiences, integrations, or custom JavaScript from the old project) so we can run a performance check.

Background: elastic/docs-builder#2664, elastic/docs-builder#2662, elastic/docs-builder#2750

Here is a Claude-assisted summary of what happened and what Optimizely Support said.

Request

Add the new snippet, immediately after the opening <head> tag:

<script src="https://cdn.optimizely.com/js/6654361193938944.js"></script>
  • Is there a staging or preview environment we can use for this?

Purpose

The SSC Growth team wants to A/B test and personalize existing docs modules, such as the "Get started free" trial box in the sidebar and the trial CTA in the nav. Optimizely would let us tailor those spaces to a user's trial journey and test variations without a code deploy for each change, as part of our goal to drive more trial starts.
