FiveM standalone race creator: everything the GTA Online creator does, in multiplayer, with the Rockstar Social Club race format

- EPYI_MAPEDITOR is under development and therefore cannot be used at this time. The official and stable versions are given as a release.

💾 Dependencies

  • None, the script is standalone and works without any framework

🔧 Installation guide

  1. Go download a release of the script
  2. Extract the downloaded zip
  3. Drag and drop the epyi_mapeditor folder into your server
  4. Start the resource folder by using ensure epyi_mapeditor in your server.cfg
  5. OPTIONAL → Configure the script by editing the config.lua file
  6. Give the editors and the race organizers the ace permission epyi_mapeditor.access, for example add_ace group.admin epyi_mapeditor.access allow in your server.cfg (with Config.Permissions.UseAce = false, every player can edit, save and delete the maps)
  7. Use the latest game build with sv_enforceGameBuild in your server.cfg (for example sv_enforceGameBuild 3889): the races of the Social Club use the props of the latest DLCs, which don't exist in the older builds
  8. OPTIONAL → Set the language with setr epyi_mapeditor:locale "fr" in your server.cfg (available: en, fr)

🎮 Usage

  • Press F9 to open the main menu, then enter the editor to fly with the camera (SPACE/LEFT CTRL → up/down, MOUSE WHEEL → camera speed)
  • Several editors can edit the same map at the same time: every change is sent to the server and everyone sees it live, the Connected editors menu lists them (and moves the camera to them)
  • F5 → objects, F6 → peds, F7 → vehicles: each list has a search and categories (with the recently used objects), and any object can be added with its model name (check Dynamic objects to place objects which can be pushed during the races)
  • LEFT MOUSE BUTTON → select the entity under the crosshair, LEFT CTRL + LEFT MOUSE BUTTON → add/remove an entity to/from the selection (the entities of the other editors can be selected too), the Entities of the map menu lists the entities by kind and selects them
  • LEFT CTRL + Z → undo, LEFT CTRL + Y → redo (your own changes, also in the main menu)
  • When adding an object (it follows the crosshair):
    • LEFT MOUSE BUTTON/ENTER → place, hold LEFT SHIFT while placing to keep adding the same object
    • Q/E or MOUSE WHEEL → rotate, X → align on the surface, L → snapping of the stunt tracks, ESC → cancel
    • The stunt tracks and tubes are snapped end to end to the pieces already placed (the new piece continues the other one)
  • When some entities are selected (one or a group, the last selected one gives its axes):
    • Drag the 3D gizmo with the mouse cursor (the group moves and turns around its center), TAB → switch the gizmo between move and rotate, hold RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON → look around
    • ENTER → entity menu (gizmo mode, relative axes, exact position and rotation, dynamic/static, color, speed boost strength, visibility, collision, model, put on the ground, duplicate, save as template, delete)
    • ARROWS → move on X/Y, R/F → move on Z, Q/E → rotate, hold G → move to the crosshair, Z → put on the ground
    • 1 → relative/world axes, 2 → rotation axis, 3 → rotate over 15°, C + ARROW UP/DOWN → clone, L → snapping of the stunt tracks
    • DELETE → delete, ESC → deselect
  • Templates → save the selection as a template (kept on your computer) and place it again anywhere like an object (rotation, LEFT SHIFT to keep placing)
  • Delete options → delete every object, dynamic object, decor ped/vehicle... or everything in one go (press twice to confirm, it can be undone)
  • LEFT SHIFT → go faster, LEFT ALT → go slower
  • The key mappings of the other resources still work in the editor: if a shortcut of the editor (like F1/F2/F3 or F5/F6/F7) opens something else too, change it in Config.Controls
  • The editor controls can be changed in the config.lua file, and the gizmo keys (mouse buttons and TAB) and undo/redo in the FiveM key bindings settings

🏁 Race editing

  • Race elements menu (or the keys in the editor): F1 → checkpoints, F2 → starting grid, F3 → hide an object of the GTA map, and the pickups (weapons, repairs, boosts...)
  • Checkpoints: they follow the crosshair (MOUSE WHEEL → height), a click places them at the end of the route, aiming at the line between two checkpoints inserts one between them; the checkpoint menu has every option of the Rockstar creator: secondary checkpoint (alternative route), round, air, fake, tall, pit, lower alpha, lock direction, size, visual size, respawn heading, transform (vehicle of the transform list, parachute, beast) or random vehicle, warp, plane rotation, reorder, delete
  • The checkpoints are drawn like in the race (route, secondary route, finish line, warps, transforms), they move live with the gizmo
  • Starting grid: place the slots one by one or generate an automatic grid behind the start line
  • Race details menu: title, description, creator, kind of race (land, stunt, sea, air, bike, open wheel, transform...), laps or point to point, laps, max players, time, weather, traffic, blimp text, default vehicle, available vehicles (by class and by vehicle), transform vehicles list, and the warnings of the Rockstar creator (not enough checkpoints, no grid...)

🏎️ Live races

  • F11 (or the Race button of the main menu) → race menu of the organizers: participants (everyone or some players), vehicle (the default vehicle of the map, a forced model or each player chooses among the available vehicles), laps, options (ghosting, traffic, pedestrians, DNF timer, respawn), start, abort, restart
  • The map is published to everyone, the racers are put on the starting grid in their vehicle, a synchronized countdown starts the race: checkpoints and laps, secondary routes, transform and random vehicles, warps, speed boosts and slow downs, live ranking, best lap, finish times, DNF timer and results
  • Hold F → respawn at the last checkpoint (also automatic when the vehicle is destroyed, upside down or in the water)
  • The server checks every checkpoint (order, route, time, position), the players who leave or join during a race are handled

🗺️ Maps

  • The maps are Rockstar Social Club races (UGC json): a file of the maps folder of the resource is exactly a Social Club race json, any race can be dropped in this folder, and a saved map works with the Rockstar tools (the decor peds and vehicles are kept in an extra epyi block, ignored by the other tools)
  • The Maps menu → new map, save, save as, load, rename, delete (press twice to confirm), import from the Social Club (url of the job, job id or url of its picture, and open it directly if you want) and publish to everyone (otherwise only the editors see the map)
  • The maps can be loaded in the world by the other resources with the client exports:
local mapId = exports["epyi_mapeditor"]:loadMap(jsonText) -- load a map from its json content, return its id (the map name)
exports["epyi_mapeditor"]:unloadMap(mapId) -- unload a map
exports["epyi_mapeditor"]:unloadAllMaps() -- unload all the maps
  • Or by the server with the client events epyi_mapeditor:loader:load (json content), epyi_mapeditor:loader:unload (map id) and epyi_mapeditor:loader:unloadAll (use TriggerLatentClientEvent to send big maps)
