Guardian uses a layered detection approach:
- Layer 1 -- Pattern Matching: Fast regex-based scanning catches known attack signatures in under 3ms.
- Layer 2 -- Semantic Classification: A fine-tuned DistilBERT model detects creative and obfuscated attacks that slip past static rules.
- Layer 3 -- Vector Similarity: A FAISS-powered engine matches inputs against thousands of known attack variants, catching mutations and paraphrases.
Each layer runs independently. An input is flagged if any two of three layers agree, keeping false positives near zero while maintaining high detection rates.
