Double clicking to enter multi-line mode doesn't present any clear indicator that you have done so, which then makes the user have to guess what the enter button is going to do.
Perhaps you could automatically expand the input box to be 3 lines long when entering multi-line mode? Or hide the re-size option while in single line mode?
