Building software at Dawn Technology by day. Open source and my own products at NightWorks.io by night.
Laravel enthusiast and SaaS tinkerer, with a growing amount of Rust on the side.
Currently: working for the NPO at Dawn · getting php-mutation-gate to its first release · building lemonfiber
I'm proud to work at Dawn Technology, a Dutch software company of 200+ specialists whose apps are used by millions of people. A few things I like about it:
- It runs the Dutch PHP Conference. DPC was founded by Ibuildings, now part of Dawn, and has been a cornerstone of the PHP community for more than 20 years. Next edition: 16–19 March 2027 in Amsterdam.
- It runs three more developer conferences. Appdevcon, Webdevcon and, new in 2026, the Dutch AI Conference. Conferences by developers, for developers.
- It partners with public broadcasting. Dawn works with the NPO on NPO Luister and on eight NPO Radio apps sharing one codebase, including NPO Radio 1, NPO Radio 2 and NPO 3FM. It's where my own work is right now: my current project at Dawn is for the NPO, the Dutch public broadcaster.
- It partners with the public sector, often in the open. Dawn contributed to CoronaMelder, GGD Contact and CoronaCheck for the Ministry of Health, worked with KNMI on the technical foundation of its open-source KNMI weather-warning app, and works with the Ministry of the Interior on a Dutch digital identity wallet prototype.
- It helps keep local democracy transparent. As NotuBiz's software partner for 15 years, Dawn works with NotuBiz on the council information system, paperless-meeting app and council live streams used by 250+ municipalities, provinces and water boards.
NightWorks.io is my independent studio. It builds open-source tools for developers and its own online products. Everything linked below is developed in public on GitHub.
| Package | What it does | Status |
|---|---|---|
| php-mutation-gate | Mutation testing as a pull-request gate for PHP. Mutates only the code a change reaches, shards the work across CI jobs, skips what an earlier run already proved, and holds a score floor per source tree that only rises. Works with Pest, Infection, PHPUnit and more. | MIT · pre-release |
| herald | Announces releases, package versions, feed entries and app events to Discord, Matrix, Slack and the Fediverse, from GitHub Actions, serverless or a container. Rust. | MIT / Apache-2.0 · in development |
Source-available under the ethical Hippocratic License 3.0.
| Project | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|
| beatrax | A local-first personal finance dashboard: bank, card, PayPal and app-store activity in one calm monthly view, on your own machine. No telemetry, no cloud. Laravel, Livewire and NativePHP. beatrax.app | v2.0.0 |
| lemonfiber | Sets up a self-hosted media stack (Jellyfin, Sonarr, Radarr and friends), runs the part you need, and checks that it actually works. A Rust CLI, TUI and web UI, plus a NativePHP phone companion. lemonfiber.app | v0.17.0 · pre-1.0 |
Alongside its own work, the studio is the SEO partner of Conversiemeester, there to take on the technical projects.
Also in the works: Happklaar, meal planning for busy households, and OpinionsBox, where you vote on real parliamentary motions before the chamber does. More at nightworks.io.
