Summary

Add quarter-track head positioning to the Disk II stepper motor simulation to support copy-protected software that relies on non-standard track alignment and fractional-track data.

Capabilities to Support

1. 160 Quarter-Phase Stepper Motor Resolution

   • Expand the drive head positioning model to 160 discrete quarter-track phases (tracks 0.00 through 39.75 in 0.25 track increments).
   • Accurately emulate head movement and fractional alignment when multiple stepper motor magnet coils ($C0n0–$C0n7) are activated simultaneously.

2. Fractional Track Map Integration

   • Direct the 160-entry track map in WOZ disk images directly to the quarter-track head positions.
   • Enable software relying on quarter-track traps, half-track data, or spiral tracks to read data from fractional track offsets.
