Create a password or passphrase from the hash of a large document or image for deterministic randomness.
- Fork this repo to your own github account
- Download this repo to a local computer
- Ensure that your computer is free of any viruses and client side scanning programs; don't use Windows; suggest using Linux
- Open the local index.htm file in a browser
- Ensure that your browser does not have extensions or plugins; suggest using the Brave browser
- For the file use an image file that you have taken and not uploaded anywhere; suggest using a file that is at least 1 MB
- For the pin you can use letters numbers and special characters; example of pin can be mother's maiden name and your phone number
- For the bits use 256 for a 24 word passphrase or 128 for a 12 word passphrase; suggest using 256
- Click the Create button to generate the master passphrase
- For the site enter the wallet name or website domain where you will use the passphrase; like trustWallet or kraken.com
- For bits use the same value you used above; do not use a higher value than what you used above
- Click the Create button to generate a site specific password or passphrase
- Enter the site specific passphrase in the wallet; do not let the wallet create the password for you
- Save multiple copies of the image file on a few USB sticks and store them in different places; suggest 10 copies on 3 sticks
- Use a pen and paper to write reminders for the stick locations, pin, bits and site
- Make a few copies of the paper and store them in different place
- If you want it to be a brain wallet skip writing the reminders on paper; memorize the pin, bits, site and location of the sticks
