LGTM — test-only change that widens an existing matrix and tightens one assertion, with no runtime code touched.
What was reviewed:
- test/js/node/tls/renegotiation.test.ts: the two existing trusted rows are kept as-is and two untrusted rows are added alongside them;
authorized=${trusted}matches the convention of the sibling refusal matrix directly above, and the expected event list still asserts no secondsecureConnectand noerror. - test/js/bun/net/socket.test.ts: the
handshakecallback now captures the third argument and asserts an exactcode, which is strictly stronger than the previoussuccess=falsecheck; noexpectmoved into a callback and cleanup stays infinally. - Checked whether the untrusted rows could be vacuous: the old 1.4.3 output cited in the description (
secureConnect authorized=falsefollowed bywrite after end) would fail the exacttoEqual, so the TCP untrusted row does discriminate; the Duplex untrusted row shares the same assertion and costs nothing extra.
Extended reasoning...
The diff touches only two test files (test/js/node/tls/renegotiation.test.ts and test/js/bun/net/socket.test.ts) and changes no source, builtin, or vendored code; neither file is covered by CODEOWNERS. It touches no security-sensitive surface itself, though it adds coverage for TLS renegotiation with rejectUnauthorized: false and asserts the UNABLE_TO_VERIFY_LEAF_SIGNATURE code on a failed handshake. The change is small, adds variants without mutating existing cases, uses the file's existing connectOver helper and Promise.withResolvers pattern, and the bug hunt ran dry with no findings, which decided approve.

Nothing blocking. The comments below are optional suggestions. There is no need to push a fix for them before merging.
LGTM. The new commits bound the chain-check poll in test/js/bun/net/socket.test.ts (deadline, exit on any handshake/close event, and a combined assertion that reports the observed code on timeout), which resolves my earlier comment; the remaining inline note on the renegotiation matrix is a nit.
Extended reasoning...
Test-only change (+31/-11) to test/js/bun/net/socket.test.ts and test/js/node/tls/renegotiation.test.ts, no production code and no CODEOWNERS-covered paths. The socket test's poll now exits on the expected verify code, on any recorded event, or at a 3 s deadline, and pendingReadsDone() releases its server and socket each iteration; getAuthorizationError() on a non-detached socket reads SSL_get_verify_result live (src/runtime/socket/socket_body.rs:2478), so it is valid before the handshake completes, and the casts only narrow Error | null to ErrnoException | null to read .code. The renegotiation matrix adds untrusted variants alongside the existing trusted ones without altering their inputs. The one reported finding is an optional strengthening of the untrusted assertion, not a correctness problem.

LGTM — the two points from my earlier passes are now addressed, and the test-only change strengthens both tests without weakening what they already asserted.
What was reviewed:
- The poll in test/js/bun/net/socket.test.ts (lines 4612-4615) is now bounded by a 3s deadline and also exits on any recorded event; on timeout the following
toEqualreports the observedchainCheckcode and events rather than hanging. - The renegotiation matrix in test/js/node/tls/renegotiation.test.ts keeps both trusted cases and adds the untrusted ones alongside;
connectOverspreads the options sorejectUnauthorized: falsereaches both the TCP and Duplex paths, andauthorizationErroris asserted at bothsecureConnectandclose. - Resource cleanup is unchanged and sits in
finallybefore the assertions in both tests.
Extended reasoning...
The change touches only two test files (+37/-13): the Bun.connect TLS 1.2 shutdown-after-ClientHello test in test/js/bun/net/socket.test.ts and the post-end() renegotiation test in test/js/node/tls/renegotiation.test.ts, with no production code and no security-sensitive surface beyond asserting TLS verify-error codes. The last two commits (ea72c30, b7e5387) address both prior inline comments from this reviewer: the wait loop gained a deadline and the observed code is asserted, and the renegotiation events now record socket.authorizationError. Neither file is covered by .github/CODEOWNERS, no CHANGES_REQUESTED review is outstanding, and the automated hunt ran dry, which is why this is an approve rather than a defer.
… end() A TLS 1.2 server asks for a renegotiation after the client sent its close_notify. The test ran with a trusted chain only, and that case passes on Bun 1.4.3, which emits 'secureConnect' twice when the chain is untrusted. The test now runs both. The test of a TLS 1.2 client that shut down after its ClientHello now asserts the certificate check that its failed handshake reports.
…s ended On macOS the client had not read the flight of the server after one round trip on loopback. Its failed handshake then reported no check. The test now waits until the SSL of the client has the result of the chain check.
The wait had no deadline. A client that never shows the check made the test run until its timeout, which skips the cleanup. The wait now stops after 3 s, or when the client reports, and the assertion names the check and the events that the client had.
The test of a renegotiation request after the client's own end() now records authorizationError at 'secureConnect' and at 'close'.
