Does this mean it runs locally, or on the server? |

This is for testing / debugging locally. The current process builds the war, builds a Docker image with Tomcat and the war in it, runs the image in Docker, and you connect to http://localhost:8080 So both options run locally, but this one
The Docker way is still there and still works. |

It can do a lot more. See Or connect an ide for debugging: Very likely also possible with the Docker approach, with a bit more tinkering. M |
which was the reason for this… originally it was a local tomcat deploy.
Yeah. Considering https://unicode-org.atlassian.net/browse/CLDR-19389 for CLDR survey tool for similar reasons. |
With this one can execute
mvn package cargo:runand it will download a tomcat version (intarget/), deploy, and run.No need to run
build-docker.sh, which takes extra time, and creates a new docker image. These docker images accumulate, take disk space, and need to be deleted once in a while.
You also don't need to have Docker installed.
